SG 30 is the 13p Derbyhaven stamp in the Isle of Man pictorial definitive series, first issued on 29 October 1975.[1]

The design is credited to J. Nicholson. Courvoisier printed the stamp by photogravure in multiple colours on granite paper without a watermark. Perforation is 11½, and sheets contain 50 stamps (5 × 10).[1]

Information card and illustration

The information card held with the owned official cover credits the artwork to J. H. Nicholson, R.I. It records photogravure printing by Courvoisiers of La Chaux-de-Fonds, Switzerland, in five colours. The paper is described as white paper with coloured ink fibres and special gumming for tropical climates. Stamp size including perforation is printed as 25.7 × 41.1 mm, horizontal. Sheets contain 50 stamps, arranged as five stamps per row and ten rows.[2]

The card identifies the 13p subject as Derbyhaven, a natural harbour sheltered by the mainland and the Langness peninsula, north of Castletown.[2]

The illustration is a cancelled stamp detail from the Isle of Man – Pictorial definitives – 11p and 13p – 1975.

Catalogue printing

The catalogue records the following printing.[1]

Catalogue printing Date Gum Inscribed year

Withdrawal

The catalogue records general withdrawal of the issue on 31 December 1978. These are withdrawal-from-sale dates; the cited entry does not give a date of postal invalidation.[1]
