PhantomWiki:Suppress
Members of the suppress group can use MediaWiki’s suppression tools to hide sensitive revision or log information from ordinary users and administrators.
Suppression is a stronger form of revision deletion. It can be used to conceal:
- revision text;
- usernames or IP addresses;
- edit summaries;
- file revisions;
- selected log-entry information.
It should be reserved for genuinely sensitive material, such as accidentally published personal information, passwords, security credentials or material requiring restricted access.
Ordinary page deletion or revision deletion should be used for routine maintenance.
Suppression does not remove information from server backups, external caches or copies already obtained by another person. Any exposed password, API key or other security credential must also be changed immediately.
Suppression actions are recorded in a restricted log.
