The illustrated example is the cancelled stamp on the collection’s shield first day cover, bearing the wavy-line obliterator of a Douglas machine cancellation dated 26 February 1969.

The stamp has one centre phosphor band. Cylinder number 1 is recorded. It is a later 4d colour in the 1968–69 unwatermarked regional series.[1]

The design is credited to John Hobson Nicholson, with the portrait credited to Dorothy Wilding Ltd.. The stamps were printed by Harrison and Sons using photogravure.[1]
