Overview

PhantomWiki is a personal, non-commercial website operated by Steve Keene-Elliott.

Questions may be left on PhantomSteve's talk page. Do not post confidential information on a public page.

Technical information

The web server, hosting platform and MediaWiki software may automatically record technical information including:

  • the visitor's IP address;
  • the date and time of access;
  • pages and files requested;
  • browser and device information;
  • the page from which the visitor arrived;
  • error and diagnostic information.

This information may be used to operate, maintain and troubleshoot the wiki and to investigate misuse or attempted unauthorised access.

Cookies

MediaWiki may use cookies or similar browser storage for essential functions such as:

  • maintaining login sessions;
  • remembering interface or language preferences;
  • protecting account and editing functions;
  • supporting site security.

PhantomWiki does not intentionally use advertising cookies or create advertising profiles.

If analytics or other non-essential services are introduced, this policy will be updated and any consent mechanism required by law will be provided.

Information provided by visitors

If somebody contacts the site operator, the message and any contact details they provide may be received and used to respond to the enquiry.

Visitors should not send information that is unnecessary for resolving their enquiry.

Information may be used to:

  • operate, maintain and secure the wiki;
  • diagnose technical problems;
  • prevent or investigate misuse;
  • respond to enquiries;
  • comply with legal obligations.

Where UK data-protection law applies, information is normally processed because it is necessary for the legitimate interests of operating, securing and maintaining the website.

Information may also be processed to comply with a legal obligation or, where appropriate, with consent.

Sharing of information

Information may be processed by the web-hosting provider and other technical service providers where necessary to operate and maintain the wiki.

Information is not sold. It will only otherwise be disclosed where necessary to:

  • maintain or protect the website;
  • investigate misuse or technical incidents;
  • comply with a legal obligation;
  • establish, exercise or defend legal rights.

Retention

Technical logs are retained only for as long as reasonably necessary for hosting, security, maintenance and troubleshooting, subject to the hosting provider's own retention arrangements.

Material published on a wiki may remain in page histories, logs and backups after it has been changed or removed.

External websites

Pages may contain links to external websites. PhantomWiki does not control how those websites collect or process information.

Visitors should consult the privacy information provided by each external website.
