The Isle of Man issued a 25p stamp on 14 November 1973 to commemorate the wedding of Princess Anne and Captain Mark Phillips. The stamp is catalogued as SG41, and a first day cover was issued.[1]

Subject

The stamp depicts Princess Anne and Captain Mark Phillips.[1] Their wedding took place at Westminster Abbey on 14 November 1973, the same date as the stamp issue.[2]

Production details

The stamp was designed by A. Larkins and printed by De La Rue using lithography. It is multicoloured, with perforation 13½.[1]

The catalogue records sheets of 50 stamps. Plate numbers are 1A and 1B (each × 4). The imprint is in the right-hand corner of the bottom margin.[1]

Sales and withdrawal

The catalogue records 400,813 sold for the 25p stamp. This is the stamp quantity shown in the details table, rather than a quantity of first day covers.[1]

The stamp was withdrawn from sale on 13 November 1974. The withdrawal date refers to the stamp, rather than the physical cover.[1]

Collection record

This is a wanted cover. No scans or details of a particular physical cover are currently available.
