SG 4 is the 4d blue Isle of Man regional definitive depicting Queen Elizabeth II, issued on 24 June 1968.[1]
The stamp has two phosphor bands. Cylinder number 1 is recorded. The catalogue states that the 4d blue stamp sold out on 16 July 1969; this is separate from the withdrawal and invalidation dates.[1]
The design is credited to John Hobson Nicholson, with the portrait credited to Dorothy Wilding Ltd.. The stamps were printed by Harrison and Sons using photogravure.[1]
The stamp is printed on chalk-surfaced paper without a watermark and is perforated 15 × 14. The sheet format is 240 stamps (12 × 20).[1]
The catalogue records withdrawal of the 4d denomination locally on 14 March 1971 and at British Philatelic Counters on 25 November 1971. The stamp ceased to be valid for postage on 1 March 1972, under the catalogue’s invalidation statement for Isle of Man SG 1–7.[1]
