The issue commemorates the Platinum Jubilee and the 70th anniversary of the accession of HM Queen Elizabeth II. The eight stamps draw inspiration from phrases in the national anthem, God Save the Queen, and show different aspects of the Queen’s reign and public duties.[1]
The issue text was written by royal author Lady Colin Campbell and the stamps were designed by EJC Design. They were printed by bpost using four-colour offset lithography on 110 gsm PVA-gummed paper. Each stamp measures 40 × 40 mm, is perforated 13 per 2 cm and was issued in sheets of ten.[1]
Two stamps were issued at each of the 67p, £1.02, £1.26 and £1.71 denominations. Two of the photographs were supplied by royal photographer Paul Ratcliffe, while the £1.71 “May she defend our laws” stamp shows the Queen presiding as Lord of Mann at the Tynwald Ceremony in 2003.[2]
The official first day cover was produced as a limited edition of 4,000 and carries all eight PVA-gummed stamps. They are cancelled with a silver-coloured first-day-of-issue postmark dated 6 February 2022.
