SG 2p is the 3d deep lilac Isle of Man regional definitive depicting Queen Elizabeth II, issued on 27 June 1968. Its distinguishing feature is one centre phosphor band.[1]

The design is credited to John Hobson Nicholson and the portrait to Dorothy Wilding Ltd.. Harrison and Sons printed the stamps by photogravure. Perforation is 15 × 14, and the sheet format is 240 stamps (12 × 20). The watermark is cross-referenced in the catalogue to the Guernsey type 1b illustration.[1]

This version has one central phosphor band. It is separately listed from the ordinary stamp and the chalk-surfaced paper variant.[1]

Although issued as regional stamps, they were initially valid for postage throughout the United Kingdom. This stamp ceased to be valid for postage on 1 March 1972, when Isle of Man SG 1–7 were invalidated alongside other British pre-decimal stamps.[1]

  • IM-SG-2 — standard listing; issued 18 August 1958
  • IM-SG-2a — chalk-surfaced paper; issued 17 May 1963
