MS58 is the miniature sheet from the Isle of Man's Birth Centenary of Sir Winston Churchill issue, released on 22 November 1974. It contains the four stamps catalogued as SG54 to SG57.[1]
Contents and inscription
The miniature sheet contains:
- 3½p — Churchill and Bugler Dunne at Colenso, 1899
- 4½p — Churchill and Government Buildings, Douglas
- 8p — Churchill and a Manx anti-aircraft gun crew
- 20p — Churchill as Freeman of Douglas
The four denominations total 36p. The sheet is inscribed “30th NOV. 1974”. The catalogue records that inscription separately from the issue date of 22 November 1974.[1]
Design and production
G. Kneale designed the issue, which Courvoisier printed by photogravure on granite paper. The miniature sheet measures 121 × 91 mm. Its stamps are multicoloured and perforated 11½.[1]
