SG 3p is the 4d ultramarine Isle of Man regional definitive depicting Queen Elizabeth II, issued on 5 July 1967. Its distinguishing feature is two phosphor bands.[1]
The design is credited to John Hobson Nicholson and the portrait to Dorothy Wilding Ltd.. Harrison and Sons printed the stamps by photogravure. Perforation is 15 × 14, and the sheet format is 240 stamps (12 × 20). The watermark is cross-referenced in the catalogue to the Guernsey type 1b illustration.[1]
This version has two phosphor bands and is separately listed from the ordinary 4d stamp.[1]
These regional stamps were initially valid for postage throughout the United Kingdom. Stanley Gibbons records the invalidation of Isle of Man SG 1–7 from 1 March 1972, alongside other British pre-decimal stamps.[1]
