The design is credited to J. Nicholson. Courvoisier printed the stamp by [[wikipedia:en:Photogravure|photogravure]] in multiple colours on granite paper without a watermark. Perforation is 11½, and sheets contain 50 stamps (5 × 10).<ref name="SG2022" />

The catalogue records general withdrawal of the issue on 31 December 1978. The 3p value in booklets remained on sale until 15 May 1979. These are withdrawal-from-sale dates; the cited entry does not give a date of postal invalidation.<ref name="SG2022" />
