The issue celebrates the watercolour paintings of Manx artists David Byrne and Nancy Corkish, who lived together at Cregneash for almost three decades. Their home, close to the southern tip of the Isle of Man, provided inspiration for hundreds of paintings depicting the surrounding landscape, changing weather and seasons.[1]

Nancy Corkish undertook numerous illustration commissions and contributed to Isle of Man stamp issues over a period of almost forty years. She died in January 2021. The issue serves partly as a tribute to her life and work and also records her artistic partnership with David Byrne. Although Byrne had been prominent in the Manx art community for many years, this was the first stamp issue to feature his paintings.[1]

The Manx title, supplied by Culture Vannin’s Yn Greinneyder, translates as “Cregneash, Our Home”. Eight stamps were issued so that the artists’ individual interpretations of their shared home and its surroundings could be paired and contrasted. The scenes extend beyond Cregneash village to encompass the surrounding peninsula.[1]

The stamps were designed by Icon Imaging and printed by Cartor using five-colour offset lithography. Each stamp measures 36 × 36 mm and is perforated 13 per 2 cm. They were printed on 110 gsm PVA-gummed paper in sheets of 20. The official first day cover was limited to 1,500 copies.

The reverse of the cover reproduces a monochrome preparatory landscape sketch. The cover contains all eight stamps and bears a black circular Douglas first-day-of-issue postmark dated 23 February 2022.

The identifiers P2737–P2744 are provisional PhantomWiki numbers. They preserve the expected Stanley Gibbons sequence but are not numbers published or confirmed by Stanley Gibbons.
