The issue celebrates the musical career, Manx heritage and charitable work of singer, songwriter and producer Sir Barry Gibb. The seven multicoloured stamps show him at different stages of his career, from the Bee Gees’ 1969 television special Cucumber Castle to a performance in his home studio in 2019.[1]

The stamps were designed by EJC Design, with accompanying text credited to Ted Cummings of Cloud PR. They were printed by Lowe Martin using four-colour offset lithography on 110 gsm PVA-gummed paper. Each stamp measures 36 mm × 36 mm, is perforated 13 per 2 cm and was issued in sheets of ten.[1] The corresponding Stanley Gibbons catalogue numbers are 2718–2724.[2]

The official first day cover contains all seven stamps, cancelled with a black first-day-of-issue postmark from Douglas dated 3 November 2021. The cover, product reference ZM91, was produced as a limited edition of 3,500. It was supplied with a double-sided information card covering Sir Barry Gibb’s musical career and charitable work.[3]
